  • Men’s Shed at the Football Club

Portishead Town Football Club gave Portishead Men’s Shed a space where we could raise awareness in the community. We put up a gazebo (which the football club supplied) with a trestle table (which the club also supplied) and put 2 Kilner jars full of sweets on it. For £1, passers by could guess the number of sweets in either jar (both had the same number). If anyone guessed correctly, they would win the jars, the sweets & £50.

There were 93 sweets in each jar. No-one guessed exactly, but 2 people guessed 92 & 94 respectively, so the prize was split between them.

Many thanks to Portishead Town Football Club for their support.

  • Football Club Fencing

Bob Everitt & Peter Otway from the Portishead Men’s Shed built two fences for Portishead Town Football Club.

  • Tabletop Sandpits

Peter Otway of the Portishead Men’s Shed built two tabletop sandpits for the Bourne Family Centre in Kingswood, Bristol.

The centre concentrates on mental wellbeing therapies, one of which is sand therapy. This is a recognised technique to help relief stress and PTSD sufferers among others.

Alison Gurney is one of the therapists at the centre and is in the picture with Peter collecting the pits.

  • Welcome!

Welcome to the Portishead Men’s Shed web site.

We’re taking inspiration from the national Men’s Shed movement (and from a few local sheds) to build a Men’s Shed in Portishead which will provide a meeting place for social & craft activities.

Plans are well advanced, but we don’t expect it to be up & running before Spring 2026.

Check back here to keep up to date with our progress.
